It's been a while...

And what a shithouse feeling when you have written two paragraphs of a post and you lose it to the major disadvantge of pop-up blocking. Ah, screw it! Not your problem ;-)

Indeed, it has been almost a month since the last post. There have been moments when I've thought of some great blogging ideas, yet the inspiration at the end of the day to post it has been non-existent. It's time to get back into it... one month has passed, the year must begin in earnest!

Musically, things have been going quite good. The band has two news songs to debut at Square Pegs this Thursday night (yes, tomorrow!). I've heard the latest MD recordings of these two songs and they are sounding great... can't wait to play them to the people at Square Pegs tomorrow (would love to see you there! 73 Railway Rd Blackburn 9pm Thurs Feb 3rd.. woohoo). In addition, the last jam session on Saturday night brought about another 2 new song ideas... I'm hoping these make it to our catalogue of songs, really excited about them. One of these tracks, No Lover, is a Floydesque tune that had me beaming wide smiles after playing it. I will never be as good as David Gilmour, but hey I'm looking at rocking his foundations a little ;)

On the side-project front, MarDan continues to evolve the chillout track that was linked on this blog previously. It's spacious, yet the instruments are working really to create a nice mesh of aural pleasure... not to mention killer blues-chill solo! Yeaah baby! hehehe... :) I've been writing quite a bit of poetry/prose at work too... the inspiration of throbbing boredom and irrelevance will likely turn into a fantastic solo album down the track. Oh, this sentence will be hushed, cos... we started experimenting with backing vocals at our last Eon jam... and despite being really rusty, I've got a feeling I'm gonna do well singing whenever we debut it live... my expectations are high on this future facet of my "musicianship", lessons will follow I'm sure, I'm really looking forward to the day I can get my voice to hold on its own.

Shit you know... I've been wanting to write about the tsunami. Everyone has feelings on this... but it's like the whole situation cannot be put into words to encompass the collective feeling of all that death and destruction. It's too much. To be honest, I haven't been able to stomach all the news that's been covering it... I find myself flicking through to skip the pages. Those poor people :( Like anything, there will be good that comes out of this... hopefully a collective realisation... that nature has its own way of balancing out the equation... that there are enough events like these that kill humans... that we should not kill out of our own orders and from our own hands... how many of us do you think will come to this realisation?

Been buying some books... and getting some good music into me... especially Marcel Khalife, some Jamaican dub, some "post rock" and other assorted awesome music.

I'm going to unleash Sheena now... the black best that is my epiphone... it's calling out to me...

Here's some reading for now:
What They're Not Telling You About the "Election" by Dahr Jamail
Imperialism Is Not Invincible by Cleto A. Sojo (at the World Social Forum in Brazil)

Will be posting more often!

Take care & Peace,
Dan.
