Current Sounds: Bjork - Vespertine
I have been charmed.
I am smitten.
You know how sometimes you have these moments or an event that changes your perception of something or someone? Last night I watched Bjork's Live at Royal Opera House at Dalal's and it was beautiful. It's basically a live performance in the UK of her most recent album Vespertine as well as some old songs. There is an orchestra, an Inuit choir from Greenland (these girls are stunning), a harp player and Matmos (the electronic beat programmers). I sat there entranced by this whole show, clapping at the end of each song and just enjoying her beautiful voice (years ago I wouldn't have admitted it).
In summation... Wow.
Good weekend for y'all? :)
Eon had a good jam on Saturday night (including a session of tomfoolery), we began recording for our forthcoming demo. The drum tracks have been recorded for 7 songs. In the coming weeks we will get the other instruments laid down.
Also, we will see whether Mark Latham will accept the FTA between the U.S and Australia. A commission report is due this week weighing up the benefits for our country. But it remains to be seen whether pressure to tow the one-sided alliance line with the U.S will push Latham to fall in behind the government. Whatever the political motives behind all of this I just hope we are getting a good deal.
So if anyone sees Latham or Howard around this week pass these words on to them: "Mate, we don't wanna prop up any fucken empire!" ;-)
Sidenote:
My grandfather is voting for the Greens in the upcoming election. I was stunned when he told me.
