Ahhh...
Sitting down with some ice-cream after a long tiring day... but a satisfying kind of tiring to some extent.
Woke up and caught the bus to the city where there was a rally marking one year since we invaded Iraq. Thousands turned out at the State Library listening to some guests including Terry Hicks (father of David, still imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay without charge). After an hour there we marched down Swanston St and then up Bourke St to Treasury Gardens for more speakers... Martin Kingham, the big union boss spoke. Rod Quantock was there as the MC who read out a message from John Pilger who was at the Sydney rally. Good to hear he's in Australia supporting his countrymen!
There's still plenty of fuel and anger at what's been going on, anyone thinking Howard will have it easy at the next election is fooling themselves. There has to be some change and I think we will see it. But we must keep Mark Latham and Labor accountable for providing a workable alternative.
It was interesting seeing the Communists and their red flags active today, I had a little laugh to myself... long story. Also spoke to an old Xav who is working with the Socialist Alliance.. this guy was a dux of the school and it's good to see a posh school churn out someone who's going down opposite paths to the dime-a-dozen capitalists haha. Well, they must've done something right if I was a student there ;) :P
Also had rehearsal today. Post-first-gig, laid back and loose... we played through the set once and then jammed for the rest of it... it seems we have one completely new song from today... a very bluesy jam with some "uh huh" vocals lol. Courtesy of the guitarist from Eon Automatic.. but we will see if they stick. I've had better rehearsals but it was good to get back into it and keep it running instead of taking a break after the gig...
Now here I am... quite tired. I'm wearing that blue kaftan gran gave me, feeling like quite an arab haha. I gotta write to Roro tomorrow... hope I can fit in the homework as well as seeing my Aunt who's back from Lebanon... of course it's the email to Ro that'll take the longest lol.
OK ok, I'll leave it there. Shit I also have to convert some MP3s from the gig and tonight rehearsal.
