This entry is dedicated to Roro :) YOU ROCK.
I haven't written in this for some days.. it's been eventfull both in daily events and in the mind. Socially (friends). Physically (work). Culturally (funerals). I don't know where to start since I can only tell what day it is by looking at this blog page... let me gather my thoughts...
Tuesday was a relatively quiet day, back to work after the long and eventful weekend... not too busy at work. Shit I really can't be fucked going through the little details so I'll just give you one huge dump of events...
I've been watching the tennis a fair bit and glad that Safin beat Agassi last night... also we have the "Battle Of Belgium" this weekend as both women, Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne, battle it out once again.. it's getting boring, we need someone like Molik to step up! I've played some guitar this week too... need to organise my effects and stuff again, I always try to memorise what goes where but I really must write it all out in good order.
I've been rather disciplined this week, well not really, it's just that I'm more interested in history than anything. Borrowed this book from the library called "The Polish Way" by Adam Zamoyski.. it's a history of Poland from the 18th century up to the end of the 20th century... political and cultural struggles and people who shaped and documented those times with their art. It's a fantastic book so far, and I've actually been taking notes before starting work each day just so I can know something about the country I will visit in the near future. Of course I must give kudos to my beautiful Auntie Roro (lol - i bet people will ask "who the hell is Auntie Roro?!") who inspires this cultural stuff in me. Especially for Poland of course, cos she lives there lol. So I have been very conscientiousin that regard this week. More about you later, Ms Radusia ;-)
Yesterday was a big day... Thursday.
Work was a bugger... but it was eventful after 4pm. At around 6pm we (Erica, JP, Noni) left for Carlton where we had to attend a mass for our dead relative, Albert. The drive there was close to the worst I've had in terms of road safety/conditions. It was pouring. Bucketing like someone had used the full flush instead of the half flush... I had the demister, lights, wipers not to mention that awesome engine of mine running like Phar Lap on speed. The freeway speed was from 60-80kmph for the whole drive, I couldn't see in front of me. Quite an unrelaxing drive. We got to Carlton, Erica went to Lygon St (ya see we had a gig to go to afterwards so she came along... read more here) and the rest of us went into the Church. So many thoughts raced through my head during that mass, just a real big 60 minute session of analysing religion and questioning why/how things are done in my lil head. Quite tiring. I had a splitting headache and needed to go to the toilet. Noni did a reading along with some of my cousins.
I left everyone at 7:30 and called Erica to meet me at the car... we drove to Clifton Hill and talked along the way, arriving there and ordering pasta for dinner while talking & listening to the first act. Brett Wheldon was awesome. As Erica mentions in her blog, this guy had a great range and gave his performance some balls and passion. There was a guy who came up with his Ukelele... distortion too! Imagine that, a guy in his forties or fifties thrashing his lungs out while playing an amped ukelele... fuckin' great. I love stuff like this, it's funny and inspiring to me! So today I wrote some lyrics with the title "Roger Moore" lol. Maybe a song will come out of that hehehe :)
The night was pretty damn cool, Roy came along and Elusive Ones put on a good show.. Colette did some singing and that was very cool, she did really well. Got home before midnight... then went to bed a little after, bloody tired I was. By the way, Aeon's first gig will be at the Terminus, the stage is bloody small so if worse comes to worse I reckon Chris and I will have to stand on the floor with the rest of the crowd... should be interesting!
Today only got good about 3 hours ago. Went to work and we were flat-out all lunchtime, was brain was working on willpower alone lol. One cool thing was to see a guy from my old guitar class come in for lunch, recocgnised him straight away (as he did I - lol) but got his name wrong afterwards... very good bloke, name's Chad, actually would've got it had I paused and thought but we were so busy... if ya read this, Chad, apologies for calling you Simon ;-)
Anyway, I got hom feeling crap but that didn't last long. Right there on the table at the door was that familiar looking German padded envelope with that familiar handwriting. An overseas package from my dear Roro! Fucken great, you never fail to impress and make your gifts special, Ro :-) I changed clothes and lay down on my bed viewing the contents with a smiles... always special & meaningful, very creative and personal. A gift from a gifted person. Can't wait to meet you in Krakow, girl.
So here I am at this computer writing this thing... my RSI is flaring up a bit so I'm gonna get going... gonna look at Ro's package again later and possibly do some reading.
Aeon Automatic jam tomorrow.. looking forward to it, we are firing up for our first gig on March 13th!!!
May you all have a wonderful weekend... Erica, I hope you are satisfied with this blog entry lol.
Dan.
